Dr Richard A. Gohl, a recipient of The Lifetime Achievement Award, The Lifetime Achievement Award, given by the Gonstead Clinical Studies Society, has been actively practicing Chiropractic in Glendale, California since 1952. He specializes in using the Gonstead Method of spinal analysis and adjusting technique; and is a well respected national teacher and lecturer in effective Chiropractic technique.

After graduating in 1949 from the Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, Dr. Gohl interned in the B.J. Palmer Chiropractic Clinic in Davenport. His post-graduate work consisted of attendance at Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and the Gonstead Clinic of Chiropractic, studying under the late Dr. C.S. Gonstead and his associates. He has been practicing in Glendale, California, since 1952 and is presently located at 1111 North Brand Boulevard.

Dr. Gohl started studying Gonstead mechanics in 1962, and has used this method of spinal analysis and adjusting technique exclusively since that time. He has taught the Gonstead system in the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and at Cleveland College in Los Angeles, started the first regular weekly Gonstead Study Group in 1963 and has had continuous study groups since that time. In 1962, Dr. Gohl started studying with Dr. Eugene Allison as a team to develop X-ray technique and adjusting skills for over five years regularly. He is one of the first seven field doctors to become a Diplomat and is one of the original board members of the Gonstead Clinical Studies Society.

Dr. Gohl specializes in taking "before-and-after" 14"x 36" postural spinograms (full spine X-rays) on all patients, after ten office visits, and therefore has accumulated thousands of comparative spinograms proving the effectiveness of subluxation regeneration.

Serving as an expert witness, he successfully defended the use, necessity and safety of the 14" x 36" comparative  spinograms. The California State Attorney General's Office, acting as council for the Chiropractic State Board, presented two expert witnesses: one radiologist and a Chiropractic orthopedist. After hearing the defense, the Judge ruled in favor of the defense supporting the use of 14" by 36" postural spinograms.

Through his experience, Dr. Gohl has worked out a spinal evaluation system that has the ability to compare the changing spinal adaptation resulting from vertebral subluxations. This system is taught in his  book "The Magic Of The Spinograph".  He also teaches this system to student study groups.  These small groups give students an opportunity to develop their skills and monitor their adjustment techniques using biomechanical analysis, instrument readings, personal video tapes.

The video Comparative Spinograms Proving "The Law of Health" is Dr. Gohl's latest project. In this video he compares 100 before and after spinograms.  He clearly documents how correcting subluxated spinal structures changes the mechanics of the entire spine.

In 1958, he served as president of the Glendale Chiropractic Council, where he held membership for ten years and was elected Secretary-Treasure of the California Chiropractic Association for two years (1961-1962), received the "Doctor of the Year" award from the CCA in 1962, and the "Doctor of the Year" award from the San Fernando District of the CCA in the same year.

The Gonstead Clinical Study Society gave Dr. Gohl the "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 1991.
